Hi there friends! Welcome to the first version of my web site here at laurafreemansings.com As time goes by I will be adding all kinds of lovely trinkets such as mp3's, pictures, video etc.
Notes from the editor:

Chicago cabaret favorite Laura Freeman hosts a celebration of Doris Day’s music. Having recorded over 600 songs, Day is known for such hits as Sentimental Journey, Secret Love and Everybody Loves a Lover. Doris was not just a pretty voice and a pratfall. She represents the spirit of us all, at various times in history. She was the voice of the returning service men from World War II. She was the voice of the early women’s lib movement, representing single career woman everywhere. She was also the voice of a grieving gay community, at the height of the AIDS crisis. Her rendition of My Buddy, sung for her friend Rock Hudson, was used to say goodbye to sons, brothers and lovers in the early 80’s.

Join emcee and WJJG radio personality Kevin Moore in a celebration of Andrew Lloyd Webber and his amazing music. Moore will enlighten you as to what inspired Webber when he wrote Evita, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream coat, and more. As you learn the history, sit back and enjoy Daryl Nitz, Heather Moran, Ken Baker, Laura Freeman, Anne Burnell, George Howe and Nick Christianson performing the memorable songs from these extraordinary shows.

Laura and her musical director Beckie Menzie previously created Sentimental Journey: The Music of Doris Day, so Ms. Andrews seemed like the next logical performer to honor with a tribute show. Laura plans to share stories about the actress' amazing career in vaudeville, Broadway and film in between singing some of her most beloved songs, including "I Could Have Danced All Night" (My Fair Lady), "A Spoonful of Sugar" (Mary Poppins), "Le Jazz Hot" (Victor/Victoria) and, of course, "The Sound of Music" So if you're a fan of Julie Andrews, you should definitely check out Laura Freeman's musical celebration of the "loverly" lady.
